In all likelihood the answer to this question will determine the winners of the 2014 midterm elections – who will outvote the other – Obamacare winners or Obamacare losers. As Byron York points out in his latest article, it is not easy to determine the exact numbers of winners and losers under Obamacare.

But it is not just a matter of numbers. It is also a matter of intensity. How happy are the Obamacare winners and how upset are the Obamacare losers. The one with the greater intensity is much more likely to get to the polls and vote in a midterm where voter turnout is usually low. My bet is that the intensity and maybe even the overall numbers belong to the Obamacare losers. It is certainly nice to get something free, but that feeling of happiness may not compare in intensity to someone who loses something so personal as his or her doctor.

Midterm elections are all about who shows up on Election Day. Why are so many Democratic Senators fretting about their re-election chances? Because they have a pretty good idea who is going to show up to vote.
